Maximum depth is around 2.5cm to fit inside the new light base, having real trouble finding something. It's metal, so I don't want to settle for tape.

Thanks.

Just the terminals? I'm following the very good DIYNOT guide here: http://www.diynot.com/wiki/Electrics:Lighting-Rose

In accordance without that, I already bought the terminal strip you linked to (16a version) and am looking for a surround as it says tape is insufficient, presumably doubly so for a metal housing.

I'm a little confused - you presumably don't have a ceiling rose since, if you did, you presumably wouldn't need any of these connector blocks

As you've been told, the (I gather metal, and hopefully earthed) base of the lamp will serve as an adequate protective container/'enclosure' in which to put connector blocks, Wago connectors or whatever - no tape or anything else would be required. Perhaps a photo of this light fitting (and the existing ceiling wiring) would be a good idea, so that we're sure we understand what you are talking about - could you provide that?

Kind Regards, John

I'm doing as the guide says, replacing a ceiling rose with an L/N/E fixture. Yes, earthed!

I got a little lost because the replies contradict the stringence of the guide and I misinterpreted why the Wago blocks were linked to if a base is sufficient enclosure alone. Think I'm sorted now, thank you very much for your help!

The point is simply that electrical connections, whether by plastic (or ceramic) connector blocks, Wago connectors or whatever have to be within an 'enclosure' for safety, but an earthed metal container is one example of an acceptable enclosure.
