need a new dvd drive

Hi guys
got a problem with my dvd drive
got a acer aspire desktop pc.
cd/dvd drive shows up in my computer.
but when i try to play cd's/dvd's nothing happens
i can here the drive moving ect but nothing
ive tryed deleting the upper and lower filters and deleting the dvd software but nothing.
took the thing apart and cleaned the laser thing with contact leans clean still nothing.
so im in need of a replacement.
is this just a case of plug in and go or is there more to it?
also do i need to get a specific one or any old thing?

If this is a standard desktop PC, with the CD/DVD in a 5 1/4" slot, then any drive should fit. The only thing you will need to check on is whether the drive is IDE or SATA.
