Need Advice – Heating Issues, Sludge Diagnosis, and Boiler Warranty Concerns

No I haven't already had it, the boiler engineer replaced the heating exchanger and everything started working, hot water and heating. I turned the heating off as it's warm but hot water is working already. They are coming on Friday. I am in Watford, Hertfordshire. They seemed pretty responsive and have got some good feedback and they were quite competitive.

Why can't the heating engineer who replaced your heating exchanger do it?

So, you've run the boiler, with a new heat exchanger in it and the system not yet cleaned!

Not a good idea!

If a decent magnet is installed it should be ok for a week or two.

I'm just running hot water at the min as it's needed , turned the heating off. It was the soonest I could get someone out.

Everyone always seems to have an opinion or know someone who can do it better, right? I tried to do my due diligence and, considering my budget and the urgency, I chose these guys. The person who rang, Derek seemed like he knew what he was doing, got some good feedback and expected some bad feedback, but who doesn't? I genuinely appreciate all the feedback — if it turns out they did a terrible job, I'll chalk it up to a lesson learned. I just didn’t have much time to make the decision as the heating exchange was in already and we needed hot water asap.

It's why I want to know how you get on with them. If they're any good, I'll use them to do my flushes as I don't have the time usually!

Looked at UK powerflush website.
They say 4 -6 hours first a flush.

Be interesting to know if that's total time or flushing time.

It can take an hour to set up. And not far short of that to pack away.

I was told BG pay their engineers 2 hours for a flush.

On average I spend 6 - 8 hours flushing. More on bigger sludgier systems.

And how much do you charge?

About £450 for 9-10 rads.
This would include either:
X800
FX2 or F8
Neutralising crystals
Then Sentinel X100 inhibitor.

But to be fair I couldn't honestly say these are a bad company as I've never had dealings with them.
