HI iv just bin given a bosch dishwasher sms5032gb/14 but was not told were the salt gose init can some one please help as i feel a bit thick at the min :(

salt goes in the hole at the bottom normally.. has a screw cap on it..

might say salt on it?

Do they actually need salt in? (why?)

We have had ours for 3+ years & never put salt in it.

Penny, as has previously been said on here - A dishwasher is not a waste disposal unit, you need to scrape off the plaets etc before you put them in.

When you have filled it, give the spray arms a quick spin to ensure they can turn, we have just stopped using some rather large plates because they catch the arms.

It also helps to clear excess grease off of kitchen trays too.

Enjoy....

matty, the salt is used to regenerate the water-softening crystals. It is an ion-exchange softener, like a Permutit. Without salt regeneration the softener quickly stops working as it becomes saturated with lime.

If you live in a soft water area you might not need to do it.
