Hello all, I need a bit of advice. I live in a 1930's property stone construction with no cavity. It is rendered on the outside leaving the bottom 2/3 brick course exposed. Some of the brick are corroding quite badly. What would be the best way to remedy the problem. I thought about facing the damaged bricks with a sand cement mix and the watersealing it then masonary paint afterwards but I don't want to cause any damp. I am a bit stuck because some people are telling me this would be fine and others are telling me I will get damp.

Are you getting damp at the moment? or is it just an asthetic problem.

No damp at the moment. Its just to make it look better. Also I am concerned that left untreated I may have some problems later on.
