hi all,i am going to replace the expansion vessel on my worcester 24 cdi combi, as the old vessel diaphragm has split/perished. i am going to leave the existing vessel in position and fit the new vessel seperately in the airing cupboard where the boiler is located.the current vessel takes a feed from the side of the pump, but i am thinking of taking a feed to the new vessel from either the flow or return pipes that come below the boiler can i connect the vessel to either the flow or return pipes.the central heating is in a bungalow and feeds 9 rads. can i use a universal expansion vessel ie not worcester, and what size would i need, can anyone recommend a particular make cheaper than worcesters own.finally can expansion vessels be fitted anywhere on the heating system or do they have to be located within a certain distance from the boiler.thanks velo

it should be located near the pump and behind it to keep system pressure positive. so on the return would be ideal. however if it has to go on the flow i cant see it being a major problem.
