So saga continues.
Thermostat checked ok and compressor runs.
Removed to my garage and cut one of the lines (l h side of compressor ) and virtually no gas came out. Is this the supply side and not under pressure?

Think it could therefore be low on gas. Anyone in Northants I can bring it to for gas re charge(R600).......have estate car so can lay down.

It certainly is now. However if it was before, then it has a leak or leaks - just shoving more gas in would be a very short lived fix.

However lack of gas would result in it not cooling at all.

Excessive ice (as in the other thread https://www.diynot.com/diy/threads/neff-fridge-freeze.495861/ ) is either a faulty thermostat causing it to run all the time, or the door seals are defective letting air in from outside.

Thanks:D Yes - you are right. The consensus is that 15 years is good service so time to buy a new one ! Reckon the problem may have been faulty door seal and compressor running all the time.

Thanks agaIN
