Is it possible to set up Nest without an active landline/broadband?

My house refurb is coming to an end and the Nest thermostat has been fitted. My builder wants to know when the wifi will be operational to set up the smart elements of the Nest thermostat.

My broadband is due to go live post completion of the building works; is it possible to set up Nest without a broadband connection?

I have a router available for creating an internal wifi network (no internet connection); or could possibly use an iphone to create a mobile hotspot? Would either work for getting the Nest online?

Many thanks.

You'll need Internet for the nest to update latest software patches and firmware.

You can do it using a hot spot or get yourself a WiFi dongle, pay-as-you-go 4g or 5g thingy... Ask Kevin Bacon
