Hi All,

First time poster/long time lurker looking for some help, please. I have a new build house with a combi boiler, which I'm looking to get a Nest system to run it. I've spoke to an installer, and he wants £120+ for installation, which I've seen on the internet can take around 30 minutes, so I'm reluctant to pay for this!!

This is my boiler:

And this is the thermostat below:

Am I right in thinking that I can replace the thermostat with the Heatlink using the existing wiring? Any forseeable problems or things i need to know?

Also, I have a temperature sensor in the hall (below):

Could the Nest circular bit replace this on the wall using the existing wiring, or is it best to just plug it in?

Thanks for reading me waffle and for any help you can give me. :D
If you need more photos then I'll get the camera going!!

Are you happy working with mains voltage wiring?

Probably the best place for the nest heatlink receiver would be under the boiler next to the Danfoss programmer.
It needs mains power (which could come from the boiler) plus a connection to the Switched Live boiler electrical terminal.

See section 36 on page 32 of the manual......

As for the nest circular thermostat it could replace the existing wall unit but it also needs a 13A socket nearby for it's USB power adaptor, unless you can adopt the existing wiring to get power from the heatlink. The hall thermostat wiring will probably go to the Danfoss Programmer and on to the boiler.

Hope that's enough to let you think about whether you want to tackle this. :)

Please disregard the above which would have been relevant for a combi installation. A photo of the wiring centre would be useful.

Why do you think that YOUR installation will only take 30 minutes?

So far you have probably already spent more than 30 minutes asking questions about it?

jacks advice although well intentioned is wrong and based on a combi boiler.
You have a conventional system and the heat link will need to be wired back to the wiring center in the airing cupboard and wired into the whatever type of zone valve you have.

Thanks dean, for some reason I was stuck in combi mode.

It should also make the installation of the heatlink easier and tidier if it can be tucked away next to the wiring centre.
