i cut my aerial cable to fit a new end and water dripped out.
i have decided to get a new aerial and cable but don't want ripping off
anyone give me a ball park price for supply and fitting of an aerial to a standard sized 3 bed semi-detached

Seldom less than £120. This might be a good time to install an aerial that's suitable for Freeview, since you'll have to soon anyway. Be sure to use fully-shielded cable and make sure that it's not flapping loose on tiles or bricks, since that's how the outer sheath gets worn away and lets water in.
