Moved into our house a couple of months ago. We only have one TV aerial socket in our lounge and I would like additional sockets in bedrooms, kitchen etc.

How easy is it to place additional sockets?

How would a specialist install the additional cabling etc?

Can anyone give me a rough quote I might expect for this sort of job?

Does anyone have any other advice?

Cheers

if your going to add lots of additional sockets then good idea to install a loft box and feed all rooms from there

Do u have sky?
if so loftbox can distribute selected sky channel around home and with an adiitional remote can change channels as well

what ever you do i recommend decent cable like ct100 etc good quality sheilded stuff dont use cheap brown rubbish .

more info etc on amount of rooms .distanecs to rooms etc may help us to give you more answers.how many boxes do u have i.e sky freeveiw dvd video etc ,do u want to veiw these in all locATIONS or just revcieve tv ,how old is your old aerial condition etc

Where is your aerial?

If its in you loft it may be easier to just connect additional cable to the terminal and run into your bedroom/kitchen etc.

If the aerial is on your roof then you could either daisy chain new cable from your existing installation (this is messy) or you could you may wish to place a new aerial in your loft space to connect to the other locations.

If you cant be bothered with that then I would highly recommend a wireless AV sender, all the electrical stores sell them and you dont have to mess about with cables.

I'd advise against doing this, or for that matter, daisy chaining by wiring into the back of existing aerial point. You'll get mis-matched cable impedances, etc.

Best use a proper splitter or tap of unit at least, if not installing a proper distribution amp.

The aerial is currently in the loft but would be prepared to move it if advised.

I'm currently planning to have an extra socket in the kitchen and an extra two or three in the bedrooms and would like Freeview on each TV.

We do have a satellite dish and other remnants from the previous owner and did think about Freesat but not sure if its worth it.

if you already have aerial in loft and have a reasonable picture already you could leave it in the current place.( but is alway better outside ,depends on how close you live to the transmitter)
is it in good condition ? if not you may need to replace it but if its in the loft probally ok
i would use new cable whatever you do attached to the new or old aerial use screened good cable like ct100 which is used alot for sat instalations but equally good at vhf

then if your planning to just fed a cable to each room to then feed a freeview box you could feed aerial into a "tv link" distribution amp or loft box setup then take coax's to each room where you require

search google for tvlink info and pictures will help you
