new bathroom - an update and question

Hello guys, I'm back.

An update for you. I was unloading my shopping as was my neighbour next door but one. He asked how it was all going so I gave him a potted history about finding a plumber etc. Oh he says, there's a guy called Kevin who lives round the corner, did my bathroom and garage conversion and he also did the lady the other side of you's bathroom.

Now he tells me, could have said sooner! So, Kevin came round, very pleased with quote and so he has fitted 95% of my bathroom. I say 95% as he's not done the shower. When i had a new consumer unit put in and the electrics updated, Sparky put a spur in the loft directly above where the shower is going (over the bath). I was originally going to have a Mira Platinum shower, and then I decided to sell up and move away once the house is done. Kevin suggested I send the Platinum back and get a basic power shower - so I did.

I have a low-pressure, gravity fed system so found an appropriate shower - a Mira Vigour power shower. Anyway, fast forward to now. The bath, loo, basin, flooring etc all done and a lovely job he's made of it too. but i got home a couple of days ago and he said there would be a problem with the Vigour. He said it was to do with the electrics and he didn't fancy electrocuting himself, if it had been a lower wattage I think he said, then it would be ok. I'm a bit baffled by that.

I took the shower back to the plumbers merchants where a plumber happened to be in there. he said it just needed a 13 i think he said or 14 amp socket? As i said, I have the spur up there anyway so I'm not sure what he meant.

anyone got any ideas please?

IF you had a sparky (who helped fit your rads(!?) I'd get him to deal with the shower... best person to deal with it..!

Back to the OP, I was in a similar position. Had lined up a new bath, WC, vanity unit, wall cladding etc to completely refurbish my 1.7m x 2.5m bathroom. but could I find anyone willing to do the work...?? could I hell....

Rang one "bathroom fitter", arranged for him to visit... no show, and never heard from him again.
Arranged our local bathroom / kitchen place to give us a quote, they then said they wouldn't "fit only", they would only supply and fit... as I hadn't bought anything at that point I said ok still give us a quote... it came to nearly £10k...

Had a couple more people give us quotes that were over our budget, so I've bitten the bullet and I'll do it myself, (apart from the electrics for the new shower... I'll leave that up to a Part P sparky).
