New bathroom lights and fan

I currently have a separate bathroom and toilet, the toilet has it's own light with the switch on the dividing wall between the two rooms, and there is fan and light working off of one switch for the bathroom (outside the door).

I want to knock down the dividing wall and install new downlighters and a new fan operating off of separate pull switches.

Any ideas on what is the best/easiest way of doing this.

Thanks.

You need to trace and identify your wiring, most of which will be in the roof above the bathrooms. Look at the reference section for help. You will hopefully either have a loop in system or a JB system.
Check with a surveyor on removing the wall. Use JB’s for the new wiring. One supplying the lights the other the fan, both with switch lines back to the pull cords. Make sure the roof insulation is cut back 12” around each halogen light (that should be IP44 rated). I’d use chocboxes to loop the wiring around the down lighters. All connections must be enclosed in a fire-resistant enclosures.

Check supplemental bonding includes the light circuit.

Remove the old wiring in the hallway and make good the back box hole.

If the wall is load bearing or you do the wiring in 2005 you will need to inform building control.

Thanks for the easy to follow advice but one question, What are chocboxes? (incidently its a loop system)
