Hi all,

First time poster here, so please be gentle :) .

In order to get a new full size bath into our bathroom I'll need to re-locate the soil pipe outside. Does anyone know i I'll need planning permission?

i'm in Welwyn Garden City and I've spoken to the council but they have haven't replied to my calls or letter.

I'm getting desperate as the Mrs is 6 months pregnant and really wants a long soak

Thanks

Aj1

well we just had ours moved out onto the outside wall of the house by a reputable firm of builders and their plumber, no one ever mentioned anything about planning permission to us....no idea if we should have
(we're in north somerset)

You will need building regs approval - speak to your building control dept.

No planning permission, but building regs approval. You will obviously need to relocate the drain that the stack connects to as well.

But have you considered if the top part of the stack (ie the bit in the way of the bath, can be diverted or reduced? Normally this bit is only providing ventilation, so if no connections are in the way you may be able to just alter this bit - in this case no permissions would be required.
