at the moment I have a Halstead Finest Gold and I am looking at up grading, it is to go on an internal wall with a vertical flu, does anyone have any reccomendations where I can get one cheap and do I have to have a new flu system,

new flue is a must.....

however I would not go for cheap....aka halstead

go for a german boiler....worceter, valliant, veissmann
more expensive to start but cheaper in the long run

Nothing wrong with Halsteads, their Ace condensers seem to be fine as well.

I have a non condensing Ace High in my own house just entering it's 6th year without so much a gurgle out of place.

I've put a condensing version in my G/Fs house 18 months ago and again not so much as whimper out of it since installation.

BTW the ludicrous rubber hoses on the Vaillants are splitting all over the place, the firm that I do quality control for have had scores go on their Vaillant Ecotecs installed for a council contract. Vaillant have just delivered a box of 200 replacement pipes to cover future splits.

Halsteads sales last year fell through the floor, from 40,000ish boilers to 18,000ish boilers a year

Some reasons why Halsteads are crap
1. They have the worst case designs I have ever seen.
2. There spares are way way over priced
3. Some truly crap design features, like that inbuilt filling loop that took a life time fill a system upwith

The Halstead band A premix boilers are pretty much like most other boilers.

So are the Heatline Band A too.

However there is little point in changing your existing boiler unless special circumstances pertain.

yeh the words "nothing special" come to mind, at least with heatline you know there aimed at "price conscious customers"

The Heatline Band A is not much cheaper that all the others, if at all!

Its a simple design with all maintenance from the front and the setup on four pots unlike some other designs with very tedious setup which few can follow.

It has a Grunfoss pump which is about the best and a Honeywell gas valve which some think is better than the Sit.

Close agile but no cigar, it uses a sit gas valve (I think all heatline boilers use the sit gas valves). Agile if you ever get to look in side a 35kw Solaris it uses the thickest dhw plate heat exchanger you will ever see. God help the poor bugger that even needs to take it out

God help the poor b*****r that even needs to take it out

I do have to say that one of my disagreements with Heatline is thay will change one plate HE under the warranty free of charge! Thats even though the dirt is not the manufacturer's!

If the installer cannot be bothered to clean the system then why should those who do be forced to subsidise those cowboys. Until they change that policy I will not be installing any Heatlines even though their boilers are nice designs.

God help the poor service agents!!!

Surely the HE is only the same 16 plate as used in all the other 35 kW vaillants and Biasis etc?

Tony

Bloody hell agile, you are on a bit of a high horse there  anyway just nip out to the van and got one of the 35kw hx out, by my count it is a 24 plate beast. My guess it needs to be that big for all those dirty systems. Can take a pic of it if you don’t believe me.

I am happy to believe you!

As you say it must be to take a little longer to clog up as everyone knows no one ever cleans the system when fitting a Heatline.

With their policy thats not surprising!!! I still think its a pity though.

They should make the boiler £40 cheaper and have a strict policy on no free HE replacements!

Worcester are just as bad, thats why I would not buy a Worcester combi! I just dont see why I should subsidise cowboys!
