New Build - Pipe noise - Hot Water

We’ve heard a loud noise from the pipe work above the living room recently like a tapping when the hot water comes on.

Is this normal?

It'll likely to be the movement of plastic pipe against joists as it expands with the heat (by the order of at least 1mm/m for every 10C rise), although that alone might not fully explain why it's only just started happening. If there's any way you can get some access to it then some felt pipe lagging between the friction surfaces would resolve it (not to much - all too easy to make it start rubbing somewhere else if you're not careful), and even a bit of pushing/pulling on the pipework can make it settle in a slightly different - more 'relaxed' - position where movement from expansion can manifest itself slightly differently.

The pipe work isn’t easy to get to at all sadly, it’s in the ceiling and under some karndean etc in the en-suite.
