Hi All,

I am trying to find some lights for the new Conservatory, we currently have two low wattage wall lights and the room is very dull, i will be re-roofing it in the next month or so getting rid of the pollycarb. will be constructed from 6x2 so will have 150mm Void, ill be using 100MM PIR board Kingspam/Celotex, what i am trying to work out is what lighting to use.

Ideally we would want downlights like the rest of the house but then i think about the void and will require penetrating the insulation creating cold spots that may promote condensation/mold round the lights.

Am i right or talking trash?

PS, will be LED lights not halogen and also 240 so no drivers.

I've seen builders construct 'compartments' in the sloping ceiling, which supposedly wouldn't effect the insulation.

Somehow a wooden framework was made to seperate the area from the rest of the ceiling. Then plasterboarded over.

Don't know if it worked, but all concerned seemed happy.

Thanks chaps,
not really the look we was going for but... they tick all the other boxes! ill run cabling for these and if the wall lighting isnt adequate then i have the option to use these too!

thanks again

You would be better off going with a warm roof construction if you want down lighters, make the heat generated by your lighting work for you not against you.

In a conservatory? You'd be getting close to banging your head on the ceiling

The OP said he wanted downlighters which are almost flush
to the ceiling so I don't understand what you are saying?

I mean, generally a cold roof takes up much less space than a warm one, so you'd lose more headroom
