My first post so bear with me.

We are redecorating dining room and have bought new ceiling & wall lights. The existing lights are on lighting circuit and the new ceiling and wall light instructions say "THIS LUMINAIRE MUST BE EARTHED". What to do as no earth wires to either the existing ceiling or wall lights?

Thanks in anticipation of advice.

Terry

1. take the lights back
OR
2. rewire the lighting circuit. What sort of cables are there to the back of the lights? If it is an old install (rubber sheath, single cores), best to get an electrician to check it out, especially with there being no earths.

Yo - what crafty said.

ALSO - under no circumstances use those lights until you have the lighting circuit rewired.

No metal light switches either.
