Hi, so last 16 years rarely would we get the odd radiator with some sounds when the heating on. Might last a winter but would get resolved usually after I drained system for some reason such as adding new rad, or replacing something.

Anyway last year drained system, so could clean out a run of pipe (the return pipe auto adjusting valve) that had a chunk of metal in it (I noticed as my magnet would stick to the copper pipe).

Anyway since then radiators heat up much faster (great), but half of them sound like water rushing, and lots of creaking now in first floor.

Any ideas? No air all bled.

I am taking off five rads in May time to add insulation to the walls, so could do something then if any fixes worth doing?

Pump settings? Usually rushing water noise is water velocity too high or older valves creating turbulence.

Creaking can be down to pipes moving against each other, expanding and contracting under floors in notched joists and there isn't any hair felt or similar.

Yes looked at that before, and on my grundfos upm3 pump, did a procession of trying each curve for a week to see if changed things from default...so (Constant 1/2/3, variable) But no real resolution... It's back on constant 2 these days.

Might have to relook
