i had to extend an armoured sub mains. stripped both ends, and put the crimps on 1 side. got on ladder, crimped new brown to old red, and very nearly (as in started to crimp but not quite enough to bite) black to black. if only we still used the old colours...

I am still using the old colours...... its amazing what you can find in the shops if you digg to the back of the pile......

BEFRE you all tell me off, I know I shouldnt , but its in my own home, so dont see there being a problem,,,,,

i wish i could, but since this is a public building, it has to be done properly. some bloke is comin in after me to give the certificates for it

The old colours are still valid until 1st April 2006.

If you have old reels of cable, you can still use them until that date.

However, if you hoard old colour cable and do a job next year, who is to say that the job wasn't done before 1st January 2005 when Part P was introduced?
