Hi all,

Had a new combi system fitted, finished today. There is alot of air in the hot water output (completely cloudy when put in glass).

The cold supply is ok. Tried flushing it through but not happening. Will get installer back if it continues but is it anything obvious?

Thanks

This is normal when water under pressure is suddenly reduced to atmosphere pressure.

Its only dissolved air.

It doesn't happen on my cold taps which are at the same pressure as the combi fed hot. Or is hot water different?

The solubility of gases is greater at low temperatures and conversely smaller at high temperatures!

Anything that can be done to stop it? My mother in laws house is only round the corner, she's got a combi and doesn't get this problem.

Leave the glass to stand for two minutes and the air will escape!

But you dont need to do anything. It doesn't do any harm.

I used to get this with the combi in my last property - only when the water was above about 50 degrees C though.

At lower temperatures it came out clear.
