We are having one of these new boilers put in. Yesterday the plumber said that the condensator needed to be fitted and to go outside. He wants to just put it outside and down into the ground, but we've been checking up and discovered its supposed to go into the waste as its mildly acidic. Only problem is that our waste pipe is on the other side of the house and there is no guttering that it can be routed to either.

Would we be breaking the regulations if he does what he's suggesting?

It would be against the regs but only not upto current standards .If it terminates at the ground most plumbers make a hole in the ground and fill with gravel to make a "soak away" to prevent a stain on the concrete etc.Dont run it direct into soil or it will block up or freeze

Lets get this right cos it's important! - Condensing boilers have a condensate pipe which can produce several litres of acidic water per hour. It is NOT the same as a pressure relief pipe from eg a combi. It HAS to go to a drain, or a dirty great soakaway some distance from the house. If it freezes your boiler stops.

Sorry, but it sounds like your plumber's a dork. A hole in the ground will not do!

Only other way out is to use a special condensate pump, so you can pipe the stuff away sanely and safely. Suggest you confirm with the manufacturer.
