What is sort of protective device is protecting the armoured cable? If it is your electric providers cutout service fuse (before the meter) then you will need to consult them as to how long your tails can be, they sometimes stipulate a maximum which their service fuse can protect. You'll also need to ensure that the correct size armoured cable is used.
If you install your own switch fuse after the meter and make the supply to the consumer unit a submain then apart from the normal wiring regs, I don't think there are any additional restricitions as such.

Apart from compliance with The Building (Scotland) Regulations....

hi holmslaw, wot is swa? ther is an isolation unit after meter and intend to in stall another beside consumer unit.

SWA = Steel Wire Armoured cable. An isolator is not an overcurrent protective device so cannot be used to protect the cable.

SWA is steel wire armoured cable.

The isolator after you meter is just that. An isolator.

It is not suitable to provide overcurrent protection to your SWA cable.

There is no need to install an additional isolator at your CU either. The SWA should be terminated straight into you CU (providing it is a metal clad CU)
