New Dishwasher in kitchen

We are looking at new houses and one of the houses we liked didn't have a dishwasher. However there is plumbing for one and the previous owners have put a normal cupboard in the place reserved for the dishwasher.

How easy is it to remove the existing cupboard and install a dishwasher? And what type of dishwasher (fitted or stand alone) would I need to replace the cupboard with?

Should be fairly straight forward if the plumbing is ok. If it is a standard 600mm wide existing unit then either a free standing or integrated dishwasher with door panel would do.
