have just put down some new slabs in the drivewayI put down a 9 inch sub base with 50mm sharp sand and cement.
can i expect some settlement or slight rocking of
the slabs at first as they have not been driven on
before?
cheers.

If you mixed the muck so that the slabs were bedded into the mortar, i.e. meaning that you had to physically thump them into a solid bed of semi-wet sharp sand muck, then you will be ok.

If you have mixed some dryish gear, screeded off then placed the slabs on top of the screed, then i would say this method is not suitable for vehicular traffic. Too much air will be left behind in the screed.
