Hi,

Had a realisation today that I'm hoping isn't as bad as I seem to be thinking it is!

Our builders have progressed in such a way that I have a roof but no concrete slab or floor in anyway on the ground floor (it's a two storey extension).

So the floor still needs to be done (it's just mud at the moment).

Detailed spec states (roughly):
65mm sand and cement screed with anticrack mesh on 500 gauge seperating layer on 70mm celotex on 150mm concrete slab on a 1200 visqueen dpm on nominal 50mm sand blinding on fully compacted hardcore.

I'm really concerned about how long it will take for us to be able to put the flooring down. Especially at this time of year. I seem to be coming up with around 150 days from what I read (1mm per day for concrete to dry and cure?), if not longer.

This is complete news to me though I should have investigated sooner.

Can anyone advise what the situation is? Wondering how people say their extension has been done in 10wks, how have they put the flooring if concrete slab?

If I do have to wait for the floor is there any way of at least getting the kitchen in?

Thanks,
Eric

Hi Eric, what type of flooring are you putting down mate

Was going to go with bamboo (strand woven 15mm) - forgot to mention will be having UFH as well (wet). I'm open to other floorings if that makes a big difference?

If you wait 28 days you can put a liquid DPM on top of the concrete then a DPM underlay then the bamboo if it's floated.

Also turning the heating on low for a few hours each day after 3 weeks will help dry the screed out.

Thanks for that dazlight, any ideas of the thickness of the DPMs, just trying to work out the finished floor level?
