New Extension - Construction of Wall on Party Wall?

Building a new extension.

The external walls will be constructed of block (cavity wall)

However on the party wall is it usual to not make this wall a cavity wall?

Can we just construct it like a solid wall? If so, how thick does it need to be?

surely you'd need to insulate the wall?
Even if building regs say not, just for your budget or comfort?
