Hi everyone. A little advice from you pro's needed...

Ive got a very slow leaking bath tap as shows by the build of limescale due to little use aswel.

My plumber and I thought it would just need a new gland / valve with o-rings.

He installed a new 1/4 turn valve but the drip continued ever faster!
So he tried putting the original back in with 2 different new o-rings but the tap still drips a little faster as before from the spout.

I would just go ahead with a new set of taps HOWEVER...

1) When they were originally fitted the tilers have gone over the back of the taps so it looks like they wont be removeable without hacking those apart and making a mess.

2) The side panel is a handmade tongue and groove wooden structure so this would have to be destroyed as screwholes are barely viewable due to so many coats of paint.

What would you guys try...?

A few pics to make it clear. (I think they may have been homebase / B and Q / screwfix taps - nothing special)

Ive left it long enough and lived with the constant slow drip for over a year but now starting to think one day it will let go and ill come home to alot of water!

Any advice greatly apreciated!

Post a photo of your own tap, not somebody else's.

You can insert photos by copy and paste into your reply.

I expect the seat of the valve is eroded and roughened. An experience and competent plumber or DIYer can often grind them smooth. If too far gone, it's new tap time. But without seeing your tap, who knows?

The links above show the pictures i have just taken of the tap. Can you not see them?

I copied and pasted the URLs in the post.
