If you do a bit of Googling you'll find he wasn't half what he was cracked up to be.

just googled and it says he was 5' 6 1/2 tall so you are saying that he was really only 2' 9 1/4" tall or less?

No I'm saying he wasn't 'half' ie he was five ft six.

People are supposed to be taller in the morning than they are in the evening.
So it is possible he could have been a half inch taller in the morning.
