3/4 of drivers don't comply with the limit
So?
These days I avoid driving in London, but there are huge lengths of arterial roads with 20mph limits on.
Yes.
And....?
Now even more fines are coming as the new cameras have longer range, no road markings and don't flash.
Better law enforcement. Do you object to that?
You might be fooled in to believing TFL's 20 limits have massively reduced the number of people killed or seriously injured. Ignoring the frequent claims that this is so and looking at the data, you will see it hasn't done much of anything to make a difference.
You might be so fooled if you for some reason failed to read this:
Comparing 2024 to the 2010-14 baseline, there has been noteworthy progress:
• 19 per cent (26) fewer people were killed
• 24 per cent (1,162) fewer people were killed or seriously injured, the lowest number on record outside of pandemic-affected 2020 and 2021
• 47 per cent (169) fewer children under 16 were killed or seriously injured
Or these
Or this
In 2024 there were ...14 per cent fewer motorcyclists were killed (down from
21 in 2023 to 18). People motorcycling account for an estimated four per cent of
vehicle kilometres travelled (based on 2024 figures from the Department for
Transport road traffic statistics) but 16 per cent of people killed.
If you want to be less fooled by the people telling you lies about 20mph speed limits because of their ideological bias, you could look at this:
