New High tech cameras to enforce 20mph roads

I got caught speeding...

The officer pulled me over and told me I can't drive 70mph in a 30mph zone.

Three days later I got a letter through the door saying "Speeding Fine"

Now I don't know who to believe.
 
I think it depends on the area. I'd say 20 'is' plenty in a street like this.

I think most people have a problem when 20mph is imposed on main roads, 'A' roads that are plenty wide, with wide pavements either side and plenty of crossing points. In London many of these are now 20mph, many of these roads are also designated red routes, these were introduced to improve traffic flow, now they have reduced the speed back to what it was before the red routes were introduced.
 
No they base it on factors like the cost of repairs, availability of parts, price of metal, changes in personal injury claims, reductions in fraud etc. its all there if you google it.
...and the performance of the stock market.
They don't just take your money and sit on it until you need to make a claim, they've got profits to make.
Car insurance prices will likely go up again later in the year, because of the war.

Every single study shows the numbers (both fatalities and serious injury) have been significantly reduced in 20MPH zones.
So would you support it being lowered to 10mph to reduce those numbers even further?
 
There is lots of money spent on promoting the myth, sponsoring positive research etc there is no doubt of that. But the simple thing you'd expect to change, is the percentage of people killed when hit on urban roads and total fatalities for the country. Neither have changed trajectory.
You keep saying trajectory as if these improvements to road speeds are completely unrelated to them. The reduction in road deaths isn't despite traffic cameras, it is in part because of them.

Still get idiots driving too fast in such streets but yeah, I get your point.

Most of us could reel off streets in our locality that are 20 zones and definitely shouldn't be. I posted such a street on here a year or so back.

What, you mean they were allowed to press something called the accelerator and literally go as fast as they wanted?!? Crazy!!!

Forget him - have you not realised he just trolls the forum looking for something to argue against, the weather is improving so hopefully he will have some holes to did somewhere and leave us all in peace.

I know people in the industry, it’s still considered a soft market. But of course energy prices affect the cost of repairs. The war will almost certainly drive down casstats as people make fewer journeys due to cost.

Cars are getting safer, critical care is getting better. All these 20mph zones with 40% less deaths don’t stack up in the statistics.
