The country benefits form 40% saving on deaths and 34% saving on serious injury. Look at as a long term gain.

You do get that we have only had a 6% reduction in the number of people killed on roads in the last 10 years?

In order to believe these statistics you need to have faith & respect in who is reporting them.

Where I live there is no need for a 20mph limit because you would struggle to travel at much above 20mph on an 8' wide lane bordered by drystone walling & Hawthorn hedges.

But lets talk about where you live. Do you live in a place where people drive at stupid speeds?

Do you stand at the roadside for very long periods of time with a clipboard marking down every time someone crash burns & dies???

I spend very little time at the roadside. The last time I spent more than a few minutes at the roadside was over the most recent Christmas period and the temp's had plummeted. I was never so happy to see an Uber driver.
