Just moved into a ‘new’ house, built 18yrs ago. It has an old ADE Optima Compact intruded alarm (of unknown generation). I want to remove it.

Obviously when i disconnect the mains supply, the alarm soundest go off. So I took the cover off the main pane and disconnected the 12v battery. This disables the internal alarm, but the external siren continues. Why? Does it have it own battery?

Any assistance appreciated.

Yes ....ladder job , disconnect the battery in the bell box or wait 20mins for the cut off timer ( depending on bellbox ) it may not have one

Ended up pulling the fuse and waiting the 20mins.

Not popular with the neighbours. Few people out looking around to see where alarm was coming from, so I did the same :) No flashing lights to identify our box as the culprit :)
