if it ain't broke don't fix it !! when they do eventually leak or get in the way then thats the time to deal with them
 
phew - nothing that needs doing straight away then - cheers guys.
they are pretty ugly where they are- i assume i cant move them..!?

fyi - it is an upstairs flat, im assuming this has something to do with where they are.
 
picture of the whole kitchen might help..

I have something similar in my flat..
the water used to come up the pantry wall from the flat below.. but since the pantry wall was taken out, the water now comes up about a foot out from the side wall.. it's chaneled into the floor and up the wall..
