Hi, hoping someone could give some advice to a problem I inherited today. On site there is a adt intruder alarm system. A new front door has been fitted, the door fitter left the door contact cable with 2 short cores ( yellow & blue) hanging against the new frame. The rest of the 6 cores didn’t seem to be connected, so I suspect no tamper used. The original contact was a recessed door contact. Because of the style of the door I’ve now changed to a standard surface mount contact. Ive connected the 2 cores to the reed switch part of contact , and fitted onto frame. As soon as the magnet touches the contact the alarm sounds and keeps sounding until keyed off at keypad. So each time magnet goes next to door Contact alarm sounds even when separated.
Keypad notes door zone fault & tamper fault ( if the tamper fault indication is linked to this issue)
Any ideas please!

No idea.

What the system is ADT use various systems. Picture of panel/ keypad may shed some light on the subject.

Suspect the issue is resistors in the original contact and no resistors in the contact now being used.

The panel in use will give us an idea of what the resistor values are likely to have been.
