new paint smears on window not removable with white spirit

Hi, is anyone else finding that white spirit isn't as effective as it used to be ? Or should I
change brands? Yesterday I was using primer (w/o masking tape as it wasn't a large job).
Today I want to apply masking tape for undercoating ... but smears remain (caught in the light)
from yesterday, when I tried to remove small traces of (new) paint smears. I think if I put the
masking tape on, then it'll make matters worse when I take the tape off. So ideally, I'd like the windows clear be4 - is it just a matter of applying elbow grease ? or does anyone have any sure-fire tips ? Tx in advance, zena

Try a razor or stanley knife blade type of scraper.

Thanks I'll try both as well .. and maybe a different brand of white spirit. Was hoping to minimise the amount of effort!
