I rently bought a Panasonic VIERA TX-32AS600B TV. I'm happy with it -my first non crt set but I'm now noticing that it suffers from vignetting - the corners are slightly darker than the rest of the screen.

I've tried playing around with brightness, backlight control etc to no avail.

Has anyone else got one of these new tvs and is this normal?

I have other questions if anyone has one.

Thanks.

It's the legacy of LED technology. The less space there is behind the panel to spread the light then the more prone the set is to minute variations in pressure of the bezel fixings. It causes changes in brightness.

Your CRT also had brightness variations (know in the trade as 'uniformity') but for different reasons. Very few TVs are entirely uniform in every sector of the screen. What makes these things more noticeable is that modern sets are massively brighter than older generation product, and it's a new set to you so you are scrutinizing every aspect. Really, unless it's genuinely a massive difference in brightness (and from your description of 'slightly' then it's sounds in the normal range) then just sit back and enjoy the set.

Thanks. Actually I was watching again tonight and the shaded areas don't seem as bad as at first. Maybe I'm just getting used to it or could there be a sort of burn-in thing going on?

Anyway, thanks for the reply.
