Finally got a new phone with a decent camera in this time, so have a couple pics for you.

These are on the same site, a local B&B. Found during a PIR due to change of ownership.

Steel conduit not threaded and terminated correctly to socket - cables have chafed badly. Conduit earthed with BS951 clamp - not ideal. Spur not bushed to socket - and not even a grommet used. Basically a very poor attempt to provide power to the middle of the kitchen!

Wider shot was too dark, I have brightened it as best I can.

Two time clocks, feeding 3kw of panel heating each - No means of isolation for time clocks, and as you can see, the clocks went wrong at some point, and someone has fitted the ones below to fix it. Single insulated cables, covers glued, and basically very untidy. No attempt to keep the timers uniformly level etc, and the cables look ****e approching the timers.

the generally accepted way to provide power to commercial cooking units is a commando socket and plug.. ( 32A should do here.. )

take a look in your local McDonalds for a typical example..

that way equipment can be swapped out as needed or moved to clean under..

they don't seem to have even scraped the enamel off the conduit to earth to....

and those timers i'd be tempted to replace with a din rail enclosure with contactors and timers to suit..

I am removing the sockets - They are not used anyway. The drop to the counter is for more sockets, and the counter is a FREE standing table! It is all going to be removed.

The panel heaters are coming out to make way for central heating, so the timers will vanish soon too.

Just posted the pics as it's goot to see what some muppets think is acceptable!

And, interestingly, looking over the past PIR's, someone marked a fault for the two 'heat lamps' installed over the table (not in view) - they where originally plugged into that highlevel socket with two 13amp plug tops. They identified it as a fault that the lamps where plugged in, and not hard wired..........!

They rectified by adding that FCU!

Even the plastic conduit on the ceiling is held there by a sticky pad (likely screwed) and a cable tie!

Just makes me laugh that someone seriously walked away from these jobs thinking they had done a good mornings work!

The timers are awful - how they thought this was acceptable I havn't a clue! 3 cable ties on the flex innerds - but why - It is not exactly 'neating it up' is it!
