New pine doors

We have recently fitted some new internal pine floors, and are not sure what to use to paint them. We would like them to look like oak doors, or like a white washed colour.
Also do we have to put a kind of sealer on to the knots.

If you're going for a clear finish use white knotting, you'll struggle to make pine doors look like oak cos..... well ... they're pine innit!
