Hi all,

I just had a new plasterboard ceiling fitted and skimmed by a plasterer.

Is this shoddy work? I am unsure with my untrained eyes but am concerned about the holes on the edges where the ceiling meets the walls (see pics). In one of the pictures you can also see the outline of the meshing on the skim in the middle of the ceiling (marked by a red circle in the photo).

It should be flawless and you shouldn’t be able to feel any imperfections. You shouldn’t see any scrim. It’s way off. Google pics of newly plastered ceilings.

The only possible mitigation is he was under the impression the ceiling to wall junction was going to never be seen, eg hidden by coving, but still no excuse really

Thank you @23vc for the response.

Just to avoid any doubt in my mind, besides the ceiling to wall junction, is the middle of the ceiling also poorly done? Is this because it should look completely smooth and not have the white streaks in the photo attached?

Can’t really tell from that pic, but the imperfections in your other pics look bad (eg the crazing which should deffo never be happening), unless the pic is making them out to be massively bigger than they are. Proof is when painted and light shone across it..

I can quite clearly see the boundaries between the plasterboards above. I noticed a tiny hairline crack in IMG_20260324_132703~2.jpg
that when I push I can physically see the crack expanding and contracting as I push it.

Is this indicative of the boards themselves not installed correctly?

Rough as a bears arris.

That's not a plasterer's work.

I think its actually badgers not bears, Noseall. or maybe it's a regional thing.
