Hi all,

Over the past week or so, we've noticed that the pressure on the boiler has been fluctuating massively compared to normal. Prior to this, we were seeing normal levels (1.4 - 2) from cold to hot. It's an ideal Exclusive2 30, and has only been in for 5 years. We've owned the house for 2 and it's been fine all the way through.

We've had an engineer out twice to look at it, initially he repressurised the expansion vessel, that didn't solve the issue. He's been back out again yesterday and replaced the expansion vessel, when cold it's now staying above 1, but when we've knocked the heating on last night it's gotten up to almost 3 bar when hot. The engineer has spoken to ideal who have mentioned the size of the property and it potentially needing a secondary expansion, but I'm failing to understand how it would be fine for 5 years with that size vessel and then suddenly be having issues when nothing's changed in the property?

The engineer wants to come and have another look today, but he's openly admitted it's a bit confusing for him and he's at a loss - So I was hoping to find out if anyone's had similar and what the potential causes could be?

The pressure in the system, is dependent on the temperature the boiler is run at - might you be running it a bit hotter, than it has been run before?

A second EV, should resolve it.

Did he change the communication pipe to the vessel? Sounds like it could be blocked. That or the new vessel was flat/faulty.

I don't believe so - It's usually around 70 I run it at, so there shouldn't be any big fluctuations from that.

I'm not sure on that one - I will double check with him. Thanks.
