Hi
Just had a new radiator/towel warmer fitted. I know that the whole system was drained to do this. Since the system was turned back on/re-filled the boiler will not fire when turning both the Hot Water and Central Heating on at the main controls.
Followed the instructions on the boiler to relight and it worked for all of 10 seconds. hasn't worked since. The pump in the airing cupboard does get very warm and makes a noise which gets gradually louder when you turn the HW on. The bolier is an IDEAL and about 14 yrs old.
any ideas?
Cheers

You will need to remove all the air out of the system are there any stalks anywhere (with bleed caps on)

please excuse my ignornace...'stalks'? are these the same thing as bleed valves? e.g. the one in the airing cupboard that sticks up ( i think there would be one in the attic as well?)

Thats what he's talking.
Also bleed the pump.

As bob says, check the pump via the big silver screw in the middle at the front. Put a towel under it and undo, water should come out. Also while the screw is off, put a flat blade screwdriver in and try turning the pump. They can often stick when the system is drained down ;)
