Hi,

I have just had some rendering done (finished on 7th Nov), it is the lightwell down to the entrance to a basement flat. The work has been carried out using standard sand and cement.

I have read a lot of conflicting advice on how long to leave the render to dry, whether or not to use stablising solution or to apply a mist coat initially and if so how much this should be diluted by. PVA has also been mentioned in some posts I've seen on this forum and others.

I will be using white Dulux Weathershield as this is specified by the freeholder when giving consent for the work to be carried out.

Any advice much appreciated.

Depends how thick the render is! rule of thumb is a month per 25mm.

Dont use pva! 50/50 watered down mist coat is the proper way.
