Attempting to undertake insulation resistance tests with a multimeter are pretty futile (and potentially dangerous, since the results can easily give 'false reassurance/confidence'), since many faults will only show up with a much higher test voltage (500V is the 'normal') than the very low voltage used for resistance measurement by a battery-powered multimeter.
