Just had the roof redone, slate taken off, a new membrane put down and slate put back down again. New lead on both chimneys and was all finished 25th January so had a fair few rain showers since and no leaks i'm aware of. However, just had a very heavy rainfall with some snow/sleet and have a slight leak coming from someone on the front chimney. Roofer coming back Wednesday to water test and have a look but just thought would put something on here and see if there is anything anyone can see that he needs to concentrate on? The water was coming down the wooden beam in the loft and a bit against the wall highlighted in red and dripped a bit on the insulation below and have highlighted on the chimney about where the drips where showing themselves but water could be coming from anywhere I guess. No marks so far on internal walls as have a converted loft bedroom

Again it wasn't a lot of water considering the weather but still shouldn't be getting in.

Noticed that this top slate does not have a step flashing under neath and uses the one from the slate under, would this be enough to cause a leak in heavy rain or not really?

Have a look at a leadwork guide ( Calder, BLM etc) and play spot the differences

I've had a look as I don't really have a clue what I'm looking at can you explain what has gone wrong so I know for when the roofer comes?

Looks like he has tried to point all the flashings together, which has resulted in the mortar not going all the way.

Good point, will get him to check this for sure. I'm hoping they wouldn't be daft enough to not mortar the lead underneath!

MacLaverty,
The step flashing has been wrongly sized & cut and badly fixed.
Has it even been turned & inserted into 25mm chase's?
The back gutter has not been properly sized & formed for that stack.
An attempt at bossing the back gutter has resulted in bashing the lead.
The "new" back gutter is already collecting debris - it should be self-cleansing with the wind & rain.
The top soaker should run under the back gutter return "wing".
I cant tell for sure but all the lead looks to be in code 3 not the required code 4?

To definitely locate the leak(s) then the back gutter, & maybe the soakers, would need lifting for the detailing and membrane below them to be examined.

Whoever did the work - you have a poorly executed, scruffy looking, leaking job.

A number of other non-flashing problem items show in your pics.

Not much then . What other issues have you spotted out of curiosity?

Also, what do you mean by "The top soaker should run under the back gutter return "wing".
