Both are primed and undercoated from factory. Under coat finish is white. Finish I am planning to do is eggshell black (water based).

Would I need to do a grey undercoat before I paint black?

I have a can of Johnson primer/undercoat in grey. Can I use this over the existing undercoat? Or would I just need a undercoat?

Thank you

Primer undercoat is for both bare surfaces and other coated surfaces.
Primer can be the same or just for bare surfaces.
You need to read the application data sheet online for specific paint for clarification.

As for printed at factory. Some is shocking and needs sanding and priming again while others is ok..
If going to black and its a factory primer then yes. Undercoat with dark gray
