Going through the process of refurbishing the house and looking at getting replacement soffits, fascia and guttering etc.

Im wondering whether its worth it at the moment. We seem to get a lot of moss on the roof which falls off onto the floor. Im concerned this will damage the new guttering or whether it will be ok cleaning the gutters out regularly.

I wouldnt mind having all the moss removed but there is that many conflicting views on roof cleaning its unbelievable.

The guttering is cast iron, so another option is some elbow grease and a lick of paint.

All that you need to do is scrape the moss off and apply some fungicidal wash, this will keep it relatively clear for a couple of yrs and stop your gutters getting filled up.

If your cast gutters are still in reasonable condition i would refurb them.

Plumbers use to do cast iron gutters , Alastair ;)
