Hi guys, looking for some help please!

I changed old plastic 2 gang, 2 way to a new metal one (lap).
This switches on outdoor sensor light and kitchen light, kitchen light has another switch opposite wall (which I haven't touched yet)

I am 99% sure that I put the correct wires in the right place:
Sensor:
COM - Black with red sleeve
L1 - Red
L2 Yellow with red sleeve

Light:
COM - Blue with red sleeve
L1 (1 way) Red

Sensor worked, but light switch popped and tripped when I switched it on. Also burnt around the L2 terminal. Refitted the old switch I took off and light not coming on now, but other switch (untoched) working so guess theres a break in the cable with this one, will check continuity.

But wondering why did it burn out? Is the wiring correct?
Earth cable cable to back box and yes I did screw the switch all the way on before testing it.

Any ideas? Thanks for any help

Did you do a insulation resistance test though??????
I would guess you have snagged on of the live/line conductors between plate and backbox or you have bare conductors that have shorted to earth.

A picture please!

Heres the pic of the wires... So should it be like this:

Light:
COM - RED
L1 - Blue or yellow
L2 - Blue or yellow

Sensor:
COM - RED
L1 - Black (red sleeve)

Thanks!

Can't tell.
The colour in COM at the other switch must be the same in this switch.
L1 and L2 doesn't matter which way round but will make the switch work the other way round (i.e. off/on)

Yes.

Thank you both, ok I just looked COM is red on the other one. Cheers

Thanks!!!! Yes blue and yellow are present on other switch

Now working as it should, good news!
cheers guys for the help (y)
