Just taken delivery of a brand new Yale 3 star thumbturn lock to replace the existing lock. Door seems to lock/open fine from the inside when using the thumb turn but if I step outside, close the door and put the key in the key just keeps turning and nothing locks.
If i take the barrel back out and hold it in my hand, the thumbturn and key both rotate together suggesting the barrel itself is ok? Which I would expect with it being new.
What else can I look for or what else could it be?
When I get chance I will test the old lock and see if the same happens with the key from outside - as we only usually use it from the inside so it may have been an old problem that i've now discovered.
