New to MP3 Player

Just bought a cheap mp3 player. It says supports WMA & MP3
I have ripped some of my cd's (which are now wma format). I drag them to my mp3 player, tried to play it says wrong format, any ideas.
I decide to download a prog & convert wma to mp3 still not having any joy.
Any suggestions

Have you tried ripping your CD as MP3?
If using Windows Media Player 11 click on the Rip tab, format and change to mp3.
Once ripped, just copy the MP3 file across to your MP3 player (mine just uses the root directory).

Thanks will give that a go. I have been reading about DRM thought that was the problem, It might still be.
